Jacobs Receives Two Sulfur Recovery Project Contracts in China
Written by PRNewswire

PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced today that it received two contracts from Hofung Technology to provide Jacobs' patented sulfur recovery technologies, EUROCLAUS(R) and SUPERCLAUS(R), for two separate projects in China.

Officials did not provide values for either contract.

Hofung Technology is a Dutch company specializing in marketing and sales of technology and equipment for the chemical, petrochemical, power, and energy industries, with operations in China since 1992. They are a sub-licensor of Jacobs' technologies through its Comprimo(R) Sulfur Solutions group. The two firms have partnered since 1992 to provide these two technologies to clients in China.

Shenhua Ningxia will utilize Comprimo's EUROCLAUS(R) sulfur recovery technology and related critical equipment for a 40 ton per day sulfur recovery unit (SRU) at their 830,000 ton per year coal dimethyl-ether facility in Ningdong, Lingwu City, Ningxia Province, which is close to Mongolia. This is the first application of the EUROCLAUS(R) process in China's coal-chemical industry. The process will provide a sulfur recovery rate of 99.2 percent without further tail gas clean-up.

Shandong Tengzhou Phoenix Fertilizer Company will utilize Comprimo's SUPERCLAUS(R) sulfur recovery technology, critical equipment, and catalysts for a coal-to-synthetic-ammonia plant in Tengzhou City, Shandong Province. This SRU has a capacity of 67 tons per day.

SUPERCLAUS(R) and EUROCLAUS(R) are advanced sulfur recovery processes that provide flexible operation, safety and reliability, low operation cost, easy maintenance and, most importantly, a high sulfur recovery rate.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Andy Kremer said, "We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Hofung Technology and to provide its clients with state-of-the-art clean fuel technology. These projects expand the contributions that our two firms make to China's dynamic hydrocarbon industry."

Jacobs, with over 48,000 employees and revenues exceeding $8.0 billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services globally.
