Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd Selects Univation’s UNIPOL™ PE Process for 300 kta Polyethylen

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Univation Technologies, LLC, announced that Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd, part of the Shenhua Group Corporation Limited, has selected Univation’s UNIPOL™ PE process for a 300 kilo-tonnes-per-year polyethylene plant. The new facility is part of a project using “clean coal” technologies that converts coal to methanol to produce ethylene and propylene, the building blocks to make various plastics and chemical products. The new facility, scheduled for start-up in 2010, will be capable of producing a full range of linear low and high-density polyethylenes. Proven capability, adaptability, and reliability of the UNIPOL PE process to manufacture a broad range of polyethylenes were key considerations in the selection. The facility will be located in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, People’s Republic of China.
